Captain Manjeet Thind was diagnosed with brain cancer in June 2017. Along with the support of friends and family, the staff at VGH demonstrated an unparalleled commitment to his wellbeing throughout.
Dr. Brian Toyota, a neurosurgeon at VGH, in particular provided a level of care that far exceeded expectations. Renowned in his field, Dr. Toyota was always approachable and exhausted all options to provide Manjeet with improved quality of life and above all, hope. In true testament to his compassion and dedication, Dr. Toyota even made an unsolicited visit to the hospice where Manjeet was receiving end-of-life care, announcing that he was “not here as his neurosurgeon, but as his friend”.
Dr. Toyota along with all staff at VGH are true gifts to the province, and they will continue to serve as pillars of strength to those who find themselves in the most unimaginable of circumstances.
All donated funds will be directed to the Neuro-Oncology Advancement Fund at VGH.
