Dianna was a graduate of the University of Alberta Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine and had a Masters Degree in Health Administration from Central Michigan University. She worked in Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia and held front line and management positions, taught as a clinical instructor, sessional and guest lecturer and at workshops and in-services.
Dianna worked at the G.F. Strong Rehabilitation Centre for the past 26 years in various capacities and specialized as a front line clinician on the Spine Unit for the last 11 years. Her commitment and innovative work brought her recognition and numerous awards, the last of which were 2015 BC OT of the year and in June, 2017 VCH and Provincial Health Care Hero.
Her passion for education led her to start her own company, DMJOT, in 1999 to offer continuing education courses to rehabilitation therapist to foster best practices in client care. Her motto was "Knowledge and networking to advance your practice".
Donations to VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation in memory of Dianna will support Occupational Therapy Education at GF Strong Rehab Centre.
